Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 26 June 2026

Please read these terms carefully. They explain the rules for using Jiva and how we keep the community safe.

1. Introduction & acceptance

Jiva (jiva.guru) is a skill exchange platform that helps people teach what they know and learn what they need through posts, messages, and scheduled sessions.

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using Jiva, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

The legal entity operating Jiva will be named on this page when formally registered. Until then, references to “Jiva”, “we”, “us”, or “our” mean the operators of jiva.guru.

2. Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use Jiva. If you are under 18, you may only use the platform with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.

You may maintain only one account per person. You agree to provide accurate email and profile information and to keep it reasonably up to date.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly at support@jiva.guru if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. What Jiva provides

Jiva connects people to teach and learn through posts, chat, and sessions. We provide tools for discovery, communication, scheduling, feedback, and fair play — not the teaching or learning content itself.

Jiva is not a school, university, employer, or guarantor of results. We do not promise that any session, post, or match will meet your goals.

Jiva does not provide professional advice (including medical, legal, financial, or clinical advice). The platform may help you connect with others who share skills or experience, but any advice exchanged in posts, chat, or sessions is between users — not from Jiva.

4. Community standards

Jiva is built for trust-focused sessions and fair play. You agree to use the platform respectfully and lawfully.

  • Be respectful — no harassment, hate, threats, bullying, or targeted abuse.
  • No spam, scams, impersonation, or fake profiles.
  • No illegal content or activity, and no content that exploits or endangers others.
  • Follow the spirit of our post and session guidelines: honest posts, patient teaching, and constructive learning.

5. Posts

You are responsible for what you publish, including offering and seeking posts.

Posts must honestly describe your skill level, what you offer or need, and what you expect in sessions.

You may save drafts, publish active posts, and set posts inactive. Published posts are visible according to platform rules and your settings.

We may remove, hide, or restrict posts that break these terms or harm the community, with or without notice where reasonably necessary.

6. Chat & contact

Contact chat opens only after mutual acceptance, to reduce spam and unwanted messages.

Do not send abusive, threatening, or harassing messages.

Do not use chat to move people off Jiva to avoid our rules, fees, or safety systems (for example, sharing external payment or session links to bypass platform processes).

7. Sessions

Sessions are agreed between users. Both sides should communicate clearly, show up on time, and act in good faith.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, do so as early as possible and be fair to the other person.

Trust-focused sessions mean teaching and learning honestly — no deliberate no-shows, misleading claims, or bad-faith behaviour.

8. Points & reputation

Points and reputation features reflect activity on Jiva. They are not money, cash, or a stored value account unless we explicitly say otherwise in a future paid feature.

Gaming the system (fake sessions, collusion, repeated abuse, or other manipulation) is not allowed.

We may adjust, hold, or remove points when we reasonably believe rules were broken or a review is in progress.

9. Disputes & fair play

If a session did not happen as agreed, a learner may report a problem within the dispute window shown in the product (currently 24 hours after the relevant session event, unless we change this in the app).

When a dispute is open, points linked to that session may be held until review is complete.

To investigate, we may use session records, join times, chat logs, feedback, and other data available on the platform.

Our decision within Jiva is final for platform purposes (including point release or adjustment). This does not stop you from pursuing remedies outside the platform where the law allows.

10. Video sessions, recording & transcription

Video sessions should stay inside Jiva. Do not share external join links intended to bypass platform rules or safety features.

Recording or transcription of a session requires clear consent from everyone in that session. Do not record without agreement.

Where recording or transcription is used, it may be stored and reviewed for disputes, safety, and moderation.

We retain session-related records only as long as needed for operations, disputes, safety, and legal compliance — typically up to a reasonable period after the session and any open dispute, unless a longer period is required by law.

11. Your content & roadmaps

You keep ownership of content you create (posts, messages, roadmaps, profile material, and similar).

You grant Jiva a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and distribute your content on the platform so we can operate the service.

Do not copy or reuse another user’s posts, roadmaps, or materials without their permission.

12. Jiva intellectual property

The Jiva name, logo, branding, and app design belong to us and our licensors.

You may not misuse our brand, pretend to represent Jiva, or copy our design in a way that confuses users.

13. Suspension, termination & data

We may warn, restrict, suspend, or delete accounts that violate these terms or put others at risk.

You may stop using Jiva at any time. You may request account deletion or removal of your personal data by contacting support@jiva.guru. We will process requests in line with applicable law and our technical capabilities.

14. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

Jiva is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jiva and its operators are not liable for user conduct, session outcomes, lost data, indirect damages, or disputes between users.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have under consumer protection or other laws that cannot be waived.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.

Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. For important changes, we may also notify you in the app or by email where appropriate.

16. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local law applies to you.
